Some of the world’s most famous artists, athletes, scientists, and influencers have hailed from the Bronx, and Arlene Alda writes about many of them in her most recent publication, “Just Kids from the Bronx.” Alda’s oral history draws upon her own experiences growing up in the Bronx. She understands the borough deeply and uses that knowledge and understanding to tell the stories of other Bronxites such as Al Pacino, Mary Higgins Clark, Carl Reiner, Colin Powell, Maira Kalman, Bobby Bonilla, and many more. Her narrative storytelling techniques and eloquent prose leave readers on the edge of their seats. She has written several books for both adults and children in her decades-long writing career and is beloved in the place she calls home.
